On the plus side, he knows I have a nefarious plan, which makes its easier to get things sorted out. He’s also been told its not to do with his birthday. So hopefully he’ll still be surprised. Now I just have to organise cakes and getting him out the house for a couple of hours on Saturday. A shopping run will also be in order sometime next week to stock up on crisps, soda and the like. These can hide in the car.

I’m actually getting quite nervous about the whole thing.

the non-gamer filter

thanks for the feedback on surprise birthday
given that our birthday falls between conplusion and beltaine
i think scaling back might be the best idea

someone also pointed that I could have it before hand
so i'm thinking April 1, the weekend after conplusion
at our place, from 8
if you can make it for before 8, you get to do the happy birthday thing
if you can't make it till after that, please check so you don't ruin the surprise.

other arrangements
cake baking, need to find somewhere to get this done
finding someone to get alan out of house until 8

so wishing hadn't given those jersey's my mum knitted me to charity, wool's expensive over here and I could have undone them

so many cool things to knit
*faint*

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring03/PATTjanda.html

http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTbaseball.html

so projects

1/ baby Xander is nearly a year old and summer is round the corner and he currently lives in auckland
if its okay with donelle I might leave that one for awhile and knit him something in a few months.

2/ my new cable jersey, must look for suitable arran pattern

3/ have decided to reknit the large blankie, it needs a cable in it to stop it streching sideways so much
I should undo it, wash it etc, but its huge, dirty and mutlistranded, so shall cheat and reknit it then wash it. It's only a blankie.

4/ Jersey for babe ruth and babe xander, need one that covers age s 1-4

5/Need time, I knit whilst watching tv, and I haven't watched tv since we moved virtually, but life shows some signs of calming down. It would be to wierd and bulky to knit in the pub. There is a sitch and bitch session going somewhere and Nicky's sewing circle (two form of geekdom that go well together), but i need to completely abandon any pretence of Mage for that, and can't quite bring self to desert ravenstew completely.

silliest break up story

where I worked last year employed a guy called M
M had backpacked around NZ and been a labourer whilst there, smoked a lot of pot, he was a laid back, cruisy (alt. lazy) bloke. None of which I had a problem with, expect that it was all connected with him not being able to do his job properly and expecting me to forgive him for it, cause he was such a 'cool' guy. Actually he just irratated all hell out of me (not made any easier with the constant attitude that i must underneath be just like him on the grounds i was a kiwi)

M had a girlfriend who was a dental student, they lived together. He never really struck me as the type to be settled with one person, but its possible he'd drifted into it.

Anyway, his girlfriend has graduated. Like everyone else in that job, he was desperate to get out, and had failed to do so in the edinburgh job market. However, his girlfriend got a dental job (at £75k pa) in london, found them a nice flat and M lined himself up a job (£27k pa (his current one was £15k) and handed in his notice, hurrah.

Except that last week, they were on the phone to each other and got cut off. She assumed he'd hung up on her and he assumed she'd hung on him. And they both went 'oh well if they are going to be like that I ain't calling first'. At the begining of this week there was some communication, ending with a text from her 'I think we should just be friends'. When M recovered from his hangover, he had to call Human Resources and withdraw his notice (he was due to leave end of this week, on the grounds that his salary wasn't enough to live by himself in london.

there must have been under lying issues, and i know i should sympathise with mikey, but i'm to busy giggling over how stupid it sounds
